strong and healthy marriage. I will also discuss how establishing a healthy prayer life with

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6

A healthy prayer life with God is the foundation for effective communication in marriage. Normalize praying when you open your eyes before you pick up your phone. Set aside time during the day to create a consistent habit of praying. This habit is not just a ritual but a deeply personal experience that brings clarity and wisdom. Your spiritual life should be anchored in regular sincere prayer. But what does it mean to pray without ceasing?

God already knows what you need but don’t let that stop you from communicating

with him. Do not worry or be anxious about anything instead bring your ask humbly

before the LORD. To pray without ceasing would imply that you pray from when you

wake up until you sleep. There is enough time throughout the day to commune with

your Father in heaven. Also, stay in communication with your spouse every

day as well.

When you approach God you should be honest and transparent leaving all hidden

agendas behind. A lack of transparency with your spouse may be the source of your marriage and communication problems. All of your fears, struggles, and hopes are laid out before the throne of God in prayer, being genuine with your Father builds a deeper connection. This type of vulnerability with God should translate into your marriage. It can create space in your marriage for growth and healing. Transparency means no malice or hiding behind a facade. You can release the burden of pretending to appear perfect while embracing yourself. The positive impact that honesty has on your marriage is unparalleled. When it comes to conflict resolution, transparency helps to eliminate misunderstandings that

sometimes fuel conflicts. Honesty fosters trust which is crucial for successful resolution.

Trust creates and strengthens the bond between spouses.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Mathew 6:6

Meditation is a great way to bring clarity of mind and deepen your connection with

God. If you are driving or at work, you can still communicate with your heavenly Father

with non-verbal communication. Create a place in your mind that is free of distractions

and just talk to God. When you can verbally communicate then you should do so

with confession and praise.

It is also important to pay attention to the nonverbal messages from your spouse so that you can properly communicate with them. Pastor Crawford and I get into depth about this topic on our Christian Marriage and Relationship podcast 'Get Married, Stay Married'. Watch the full episode here:
