Love pulls on your heart and holds on tight. Some may think it is not enough to sustain a relationship or a marriage that has experienced some tough times. Love is enough because it is the catalyst for everything you need. God’s love is enough because it puts his perfect plan into action. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins (John 3:16). The action of becoming the last sacrifice is a direct act of love. If both of you are operating in the love of God through grace, then you should have a greater understanding of love and sacrifice.
“Love makes you do things” -Pastor Randall Crawford Sr.
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the LORD. -Proverbs 18:22
When a man finds his wife, he has found his other half, his perfect match. In her, he finds not just a life partner but also a helper, a confidant, a supporter, and a friend. The bond between a husband and wife is meant to be based on mutual respect, understanding, and love.
A wife should possess characteristics such as kindness, patience, compassion, and faithfulness. While no one is perfect, the idea is that a wife should strive to embody these virtues or be willing to work towards acquiring them.
1 Corinthians 16:14 reminds us of the importance of love in all aspects of life, including marriage. It emphasizes the need for love to be the guiding principle in how we speak and act towards one another. Love should be the foundation upon which all interactions are built, devoid of any ill intentions or deceit. Ultimately, a successful marriage is one where both partners are committed to nurturing their relationship with love, respect, and understanding. By upholding the values of love and kindness, a husband and wife can create a strong and enduring bond that withstands the test of time.
"Let all your things be done with charity [love]." 1 Corinthians 16:14
This includes how you speak and what you do, all of which needs to be done in love, not malice or guile.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
These scriptures lay out how love should behave and its characteristics. Love is patient,
kind, honest, unselfish, humble, and finds joy in truth. It is not jealous, envious, prideful,
hot-tempered, and does not quit easily. If this love lives inside of you and should be felt
by your spouse or future spouse. And they should reciprocate this love right back to
you. Love does not inflict suffering but allows you to suffer long as you give space for
change and growth. Love is not opposed to change but embraces being the best
version of themselves.
In conclusion, It Is crucial to understand that love should be based on God's definition of love rather than our own limited understanding. God's love is often described as unconditional, selfless, and sacrificial, encompassing forgiveness, empathy, and compassion. When love in a marriage aligns with these principles, it becomes a solid foundation that can weather any storm and strengthen the bond between spouses. By prioritizing God's definition of love, couples can cultivate a deep sense of connection, mutual respect, and spiritual growth within their relationship.
